Call for application for an immersive campur at Lavanderia a Vapore, in June 2022.
Through the act of looking, our retina decomposes and recomposes the image. If the image is in motion, our eyes design a choreography of connections made of frames, a mental medley filled with associations and redefinitions. Just like when we are looking out a train window, the rhythm of the movement dissects the landscape in fragments providing us with entirely new geographies: if our vision is then exercised on a process in action, for example, a living body, this process, if we ask the right questions, will affect us, and rewrite the image we have of ourselves.
Lavanderia a Vapore, together with the Springback Academy and Scuola Holden (Turin), in collaboration with Aerowaves and the support of Boarding Pass Plus Dance, presents HOW DO YOU SPELL DANCE: DANCING WITH WORDS, a 3-day immersive campus from June 8 to 10, 2022 in Lavanderia a Vapore, during the contemporary dance festival Interplay.
HDYSD was born from the blurring between dance and writing, both forms of poetic and poietic languages that differ in vocabulary but not in grammar. How can we dance through words? How can we translate the compositional dynamics of the creative process from one artistic code to another? Starting from this common root, HDYSD is designed as a workshop on dancing through writing, beginning from the vision and experience of a choreographic work, this workshop aims to evoke the sense and essence through the practices and techniques of writing. HDYSD is not a writing class “for and about dance” but a practical and theoretical path that explores the techniques of writing as a critical, creative and choreographic experience.
CAMPUS
The 3-day immersive campus will be in Collegno, in the nearby of Turin (Italy), at Lavanderia a Vapore, centre for dance residencies.
The theorical and practical lessons are held in English and in Italian by Springback Academy and Scuola Holden teachers and by Lavanderia a Vapore team. The detailed programme will be published in May.
Timetable for the three days will be from 10 am to 6 pm, including some shows and performances in the night (starting at 8 pm).
CALL FOR APPLICATION
The group welcomes a maximum of 15 participants including artists, writers, critics, and students, professionals active in the field of performing arts, communication, mediation, and curation, selected through an open call (deadline to apply 5th May, 2022).
Italian and English knowledge is mandatory. The participation is free. The selected applicants will be informed via mail by the 16th May, 2022.
FOLLOW UP
At the end of the campus, some scholarships will offer the possibilities to visit some European dance houses in the EDN – European Dancehouse Network, to experiment directly the tools and to continue the narration of the choreographic process.
