LOBEST | SPRING ROLLS

by and with Enrico Malatesta

An urban performance, a collective walk that, turning to the Lavanderia a Vapore, produces mottling of sound, transient through the city of Collegno and realised with the hands, with portable sound reproduction devices, found-sounds and poor materials.
Malatesta confers a performative dynamic to the passage, to the crossing, combining his experience in the field of musical research with the exploration of the relationship between sound and body, with the intention of strangling the audible of the street and making everyone participate in their own form of listening, which stands out from time to time against the background noise of Collegno.
The walk also includes some appearances by the ‘Walking bucketheads’ freely inspired by a scene from the documentary ‘Encounters at the end of the world’ by W. Herzog. In order to simulate the extreme weather conditions of Antarctica during a survival course, the instructor makes the participants wear white buckets on their heads as devices to reproduce conditions of poor visibility and hearing difficulties. Based on this suggestion, some of the buckets become strange characters active in brief forays of bucket drumming.
