A moment of descent after ecstasy, a wave of depression, the sensation of the body letting go, the spirit breaking away: this is the down. Mélissa Guex experiences the rhythm of descent, then the music of ascent, the body freezing or following a drumbeat of emotions, to create an explosive performance as an attempt to respond to the collective down.
Conceived as a modular in situ format, Down – single version evolves, transforms and takes root in each territory explored, feeding off past journeys and nurturing future ones.
Mélissa Guex is a dancer, choreographer and performer. After her studies, she became an associate artist of Théâtre Sévelin and created the SUMO company in Lausanne. She collaborates and participates in different creations and artistic worlds with, among others, Géraldine Chollet, Augustin Rebetez and Anna Marija Adomaityte. With her company, Mélissa Guex and her team develop work based on an elaborate aesthetic, not without darkness.
