Plein air originates from the experience of artistic experimentation with childhood and the use of tactile practices as a means of adherence to the self and encounter with the other from oneself. The co-presence of concrete datum and imaginative dimension that the experience of touch allows proves to be extremely generative for creative purposes and capable of creating images that are now familiar, now discordant and of constructing a scenic temperature at once raw and magical. These two dimensions feed off each other, creating even very sudden deviations that give rise to incongruent imagery and unexpected synaesthesia.

Marina Donatone‘s work has been supported byMattatoio di Roma, Lavanderia a Vapore, Santarcangelo Festival, Teatro India – Teatro di Roma, Short Theatre, Sín Arts Culture Centre in Budapest, OperaEstate and C.U.R.A. Centro Residenze Umbre, among others. In 2020 and 2021 he is part, with the Short Theatre festival, of the MiBACT Boarding Pass Plus Dance internationalization project for artists and curators.Since 2022 he has been collaborating with the educational departments of Palazzo Grassi – Punta della Dogana and the Civic Museums of Venice, and since 2024 he has been leading movement workshops for children at the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi.
