What does it mean to create dance nowadays? Can the creative act ignore personal experience? Vittorio Pagani questions the
being on stage, on the importance of icons and their destruction, and on the encounter between idealization and reality. SUPERSTELLA crystallizes a moment in the performer’s career that, looking at the road already traveled and the future path yet to be chart, reflects on the impact his profession has on his ife. This personal narrative has a broader dimension, however: being perceived by others during a journey of maturation opens the door to common frailties, moments of latent irony and paves the way for reflections on today’s world. Drawing inspiration from the stories of the great stars who have made art history and the myth of fame and celebrity, this performance combines text and dance in conversation with the poetics of Fellini, the icon reproduction studies of Richard Dyer and the world of Italian songwriting.
Vittorio Pagani, performer and choreographer, in his works investigates themes such as performativity and subversion. In 2018 he joined the Ballet Junior de Genève, while in 2021 he created the pas de deux “Around 5:65.” selected for the RIDCC2022 platform. He holds a Master’s degree in Expanded Dance Practice, earned in 2023 from the University of Arts London. At The Place London she creates “A Solo in the Spotlights.” a creation selected for Resolution2023, the Showcase of Young Dance d’auteur 2023 and Aerowaves 2024 and danced in numerous festivals Italy and Europe.
